The planned 7-to-8-mile route includes Wilkins Lake, Shenandoah University, the Apple Blossom Mall, Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve, Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, Winchester Medical Center, Old Town Winchester, Shawnee Springs Preserve and Jim Barnett Park.
Two major Green Circle segments, each approximately a mile long, have been completed: Town Run Linear Park Phase I (Wilkins Lake/Shenandoah University to Shawnee Springs), and the Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve.
Directions to Town Run Linear Park Phase 1: From the Visitor Center, Wilkins Lake or Shenandoah University, turn right (north) onto Pleasant Valley Road. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Hollingsworth Drive. Turn left again at the stop sign, then take the first right at the Civil War Trails sign to a parking lot and information kiosk at Shawnee Springs. From here, the Green Circle extends north along Town Run to Pall Mall Street. It also runs southeast to the Visitor Center, along Wilkins Lake, and then to the main campus of Shenandoah University.
Directions to the Abrams Creek Wetlands Preserve: From Route 11 a mile south of downtown Winchester, turn right (west) onto Jubal Early Drive. In 0.2 miles, park at the Abrams Crossing commercial center on the left. Follow the paved path between the swamp and Jubal Early Drive.
