Lean In & Engage
Q: What are students learning or experiencing through this process?
“Shenandoah Conservatory students are learning the value of performing in a different space (Ohrstrom-Bryant Theatre vs. Armstrong Concert Hall or Goodson Chapel – Recital Hall, for example). They are also learning how to use the facilities for a collage-type show and how to pace a program that is dedicated to a very specific audience of younger music students.”
– Tim Robblee, conductor
Q: What excites you about working on this project/program?
“It is so fun to have all of the conservatory’s instrumental ensembles together in one program! The Wind Ensemble is performing a work by this year’s featured guest composer Mike Markowski, the Symphony Orchestra is performing Strauss, the Studio Big Band will open the show with a tune and more by a number of student and faculty chamber groups.”
– Tim Robblee, conductor
Q: What are you excited about for audiences to experience?
“In addition to all of the various music ensembles, I am really excited to present the music of guest composer Mike Markowski. The Wind Ensemble will perform his piece City Trees on the Collage Concert program and the composer will work with high school students throughout the weekend as part of this year’s Mid-Atlantic Honor Band.”
– Tim Robblee, conductor
