What if there were an alternate version of you? In an alternate universe or world, where things are almost the same, but not quite? What if just across some invisible boundary, there is another you linked similarly in so many ways, yet not exactly the same? Causal Effect explores that possibility, connecting both versions of a person as they move through space. What one does has a cause and effect on their alternate, and vice versa. We seemingly move and breathe independently as unique individuals, but what if we’re not independent, and instead are connected. When the cause of our actions creates a ripple effect how does that bring us together or tear us apart?

Choreographer Tiffanie Carson’s Causal Effect: A Virtual Revival Short Film is the culmination of a semester-long project from a fall 2020 dance performance course at Shenandoah Conservatory. The video features pre-recorded and livestream footage from the November 2020 livestream performances of Carson’s Causal Effect: A Virtual Revival.
