Hilariously funny and touchingly honest, Urinetown is a fun and provocative satirical musical comedy. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a twenty-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. When a malevolent company decides to profit by charging admission to its citizens for one of humanity’s most basic needs, a hero emerges to lead an unlikely revolution.
Winner of three Tony Awards, Urinetown is a hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics and even musical theatre itself!
