Today we traveled to Ollantaytambo, Cuzco where we were shown the differences between baby alpaca, adult alpaca and plastic fur. We learned how the yarn is cleaned, spun and dyed. We also learned that the women of Chinchero are multi-taskers; they are constantly spinning yarn no matter what else they have going on. One of the women told us kissing her husband was no problem as she continued to spin yarn.
For lunch we traveled to the beautiful Tunupa restaurant where we came across a llama who was more than happy to greet us with a smile.
After a much needed lunch we traveled to the Temple of the Sun God where we hiked approximately 260 stairs and learned how the Incas used terrace farming as a way of life. Experiences like this make me realize how much we take for granted. I am so glad that moments like this show me what hard work is and show me what it means to have compassion and patience.
