It is insane to think how we went from waking up in Winchester, Virginia to going to bed (not counting the short naps in between) in Cape Town, South Africa. While the travel was long and extensive, it was well worth the wait even though it is only Day 1. Our flights were amazing between the great service of KLM airlines, the good movies and shows, and the fact that you could not possibly go hungry since it seemed like we were fed every hour on the hour. Also, huge shout-out to Allyson Schwinds’s parents for surprising her at the airport with cupcakes for everyone to celebrate her 21st! Our flight schedule included about a 6.5 hour flight to Amsterdam where we had a 3 hour layover and then boarded our 11 hour flight to Cape Town. We bounced from North America, to Europe, then to the southern tip of Africa. Thankfully, all of our luggage arrived and we started our trip off to a great start! Linda, our awesome guide, met us there, got us to our accommodation called Never At Home, where we all went to our rooms with our respected roommates and PASSED OUT. When we were going to bed, our friends at home were getting ready for dinner. Nevertheless we we’re all eager to start our days this morning, which another a thrilling blog will be talking about soon!!
