Welcome to Shenandoah University! As you explore the pages of this Web site, I hope you will become as excited about Shenandoah as I am. Our university is a vibrant, welcoming place, one where what you can imagine can come true. Shenandoah’s faculty, staff and administration strive every day to create an environment in which our students can succeed, during their time here and throughout their future. In turn, we are inspired by Shenandoah’s students, the future leaders of our global society. At Shenandoah, the faculty and staff are committed to providing students with the highest quality educational experience in a deeply compassionate environment. Our professors love to share in the learning and discovery process alongside their students – whether in a laboratory,  
on stage, in a clinic, in the archives, or while hiking in nearby Shenandoah National Park.  As president, I spend most of my time working with others to lead this institution. But, my favorite hours each week are spent with students – having dinner with them in my home with my family, traveling abroad with them, attending their performances or presentations, or learning with them in the course I teach each year. Tracy Fitzsimmons, Ph.D., became Shenandoah University’s 16th president on July 1, 2008. She is the institution’s first female president since its founding in 1875.
