About the Event

Join us for our 2024 Strings Day where high school students and advanced 8th graders are invited to work with Shenandoah Conservatory strings and orchestral faculty! You will work on assigned repertoire for string orchestra and participate in sectionals with both our esteemed faculty and select SU students. Shenandoah Conservatory string faculty and students will also present a special performance to welcome Strings Day students. The event concludes with an invitation to attend the evening performance of the Shenandoah Conservatory Symphony Orchestra. This performance showcases our Symphony Orchestra musicians under the direction of Director of Orchestral Studies, Maestro Emanuele Andrizzi, along with violin professor Akemi Takayama as soloist in an exciting symphonic concert.

Meet the Conductor
Emanuele Andrizzi
Conductor, composer and pianist Emanuele Andrizzi received his education in the rich musical tradition of Rome’s Conservatory. His conducting has earned acclaim, with the Chicago Tribune describing it as “admirable” and the San Diego Union Tribune praising its “spirit and thoughtfulness.” With a versatile musical background and a deep passion for various aspects of the art form, he brings extensive experience in symphonic and operatic repertoires.

Symphony Orchestra
Saturday, November 16 a 7:30 p.m.
Armstrong Concert Hall
Strings Day participants are invited to attend a special Symphony Orchestra performance featuring music by Oscar Lorenzo Fernández, Antonín Dvořák and Ottorino Respighi with violin faculty Akemi Takayama as the featured soloist.
Participating students may claim up to two complimentary tickets to this performance (one for the student and one for their guest) by registering for this year’s Strings Day event. Additional tickets may be purchased at a discount.
Financial Assistance
The $30 registration fee includes lunch, a t-shirt and admission to the Symphony Orchestra concert at 7:30 p.m. in Armstrong Concert Hall.
Shenandoah Conservatory believes the arts are for everyone. Like all nonprofit arts organizations and higher education institutions, we strive to maintain our stewardship of limited resources and balanced budgets while intentionally removing barriers to participation and belonging. Full and partial scholarships are available to those who require financial assistance.
