Zoeter and Moyer ’17, ’23 Present World Premiere of Clarinet Duo by Newman at Clarinetfest

Anna Lee van Buren Endowed Chair in Clarinet, Coordinator of Winds and Percussion and Professor of Clarinet Garrick Zoeter, M.M., and Jacob Moyer ’17, ’23 (Bachelor of Music in Performance, Master of Music in Performance) performed the world premiere of “Knowledge Workers,” a new work for two clarinets, by Director of Composition, Coordinator of New Music and Associate Professor of Composition Jonathan Newman, M.M., at the 50th anniversary Clarinetfest in Denver, Colorado, on July 7. The piece was commissioned by Zoeter and Moyer for the event. Moyer is also a member of the United States Marine Band.

The conference also featured performances by additional SU clarinet studio alumni Caitlin Beare ’13 (Bachelor of Music in Performance), Elisabeth Stimpert ’13 (Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance) and Thomas Piercy. Piercy attended Shenandoah Conservatory in the 1970s and studied with Professor Emeritus of Conducting and Clarinet Stephen Johnston, D.M.A., while pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Performance.
