Heimat Quartet Begins Residency in Winchester and at Shenandoah Conservatory

Shenandoah Conservatory welcomes the Heimat Quartet, which will be in residence at Shenandoah University and the greater Winchester community for the 2019/20 academic year. Known for “…performing with a warm sound and much joy…” and as “…a quartet that both takes music seriously and enjoys it…sincere…vivacious,” (The Strad), the ensemble comprises violinists Patrick Shaughnessy and Aubrey Holmes, violist Ivan Mendoza and cellist Brendon Phelps.

“We are really fortunate to have them join our community,” said Director of Chamber Music and Professor of Viola and Chamber Music Doris Lederer, Diploma, Curtis Institute of Music.

During its residency, the quartet will perform on and off campus in the Winchester community, engage with students and faculty by performing with the EDGE Ensemble and support recruitment initiatives for the conservatory. They will also partner with different divisions within the university for a variety of workshops and performances.
