Three Shenandoah University student-athletes earned academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Molly Barb ’16 and Caitlin Tilton ’16, and rising sophomore Brett Dubin, were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for their performance in the classroom. The entire women’s squad also earned ITA accolades. One hundred and eighty-six Shenandoah student-athletes earned Academic All-ODAC honors in selections announced in July by the league office. The student-athletes needed to have at least a 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale for the 2015-16 academic year. All 21 of Shenandoah’s teams had players honored, with the highest team percentage coming from the men’s golf team, where seven of its nine members (78 percent) were Academic All-ODAC selections. Six student-athletes have been honored by the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association for their performance in the classroom in Academic All-State selections announced by the organization on July 12. Rising seniors Stephen LaTona, Jake Loew, Jennifer Nguyenand Shelby Shrader, along with rising juniors Brett Dubin and Elizabeth Pardo, all earned Academic All-State honors. Read more here. The Shenandoah University baseball program has two additional players playing professionally as Michael Scimanico ’16 and Darrell Thompson ’16 have been signed by the Roswell Invaders of the Pecos League. The Invaders are the defending champions of the 10-team loop, which includes teams from Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, and Texas. Read more.
Kimberly Brady ’16 has been named first team All-State for softball in selections announced in June by the Virginia State Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID). Brady capped her career with her second-ever VaSID honor. She was also named ODAC Player of the Year, first team All-ODAC and first team National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-South Region after hitting .484 with a program-record 10 home runs in 122 at-bats.
