Alexander Manzo ’13, a five-year combat veteran and Bachelor in Business Administration alumnus of the School of Business, has had an impressive year of entrepreneurial success.
Since graduating, he has started a corporation, Alexander Manzo LLC, which owns two different businesses: recently established A-Z Limousine and A-Z Auto Repair. The latter was founded during Manzo’s senior year. Both businesses are thriving.
Manzo credits his business success to his time in school saying, “Without my education from the Shenandoah University’s School of Business, I would not be where I am today. I will be forever grateful for the outstanding curriculum and the professors’ diligence in training their students.”
The business school equipped Manzo with the skills and tools necessary to get his business up and running. He learned creative ways to raise capital in order to invest in and grow the business. Manzo also learned risk management, which has been a huge factor in the success of both companies.
According to Manzo, his accounting classes, “although extremely difficult, have proved to be the most rewarding for me, as I am able to keep my own financial information and reports readily available. I also learned how to generate financial reports that my accountant and lawyer need at tax time.”
He also notes that, “All those presentations we make as students do pay off. When you have your own company, you are responsible for the growth of your business. So it is imperative when you meet with investors or potential business partners that you are fully prepared to stand up boldly and give your pitch. The business school equipped me with what I needed to sell my ideas, my business and myself. In return, I built an invaluable network.”
Plans are currently underway for Manzo’s A-Z Limousine company to transport the Shenandoah University Homecoming Court on a free, two-hour ride.
