Shenandoah transfer students have many academic resources to help them be successful.
As a university, we are committed to helping students reach their full potential and experience positive learning outcomes.
iMLearning: Integrated Mobile Learning Initiative
Shenandoah’s innovative iMLearning program puts state-of-the-art computing technology directly in the hands of students to enhance learning so students graduate as confident and capable users of technology. Incoming freshmen receive a Macbook Pro and an iPad or iPad Mini. By adopting the “ubiquitous computing model” students always have the technology at hand, both inside the classroom and out.
Office of Learning Resources & Services
The OLRS is committed to enhancing student learning, supporting academic success, and helping students become lifelong learners. The OLRS implements and coordinates student peer tutoring programs, study skills development courses and workshops, services for students with disabilities, and academic counseling. Services are free to all students enrolled in the university.
Shenandoah University Writing Center
The mission of the Writing Center is one-to-one instruction in writing for all Shenandoah students. The conferences between students and the Writing Center staff, either face-to-face or online, work to enable students to learn productive habits in pre-writing, drafting, revising, and editing.
Office of Career Services
The Career Services office provides a comprehensive range of services and resources to support career exploration and professional growth of Shenandoah students. Services offered include career exploration, experiential learning through internships, volunteer, summer and part-time opportunities, as well as resume building, interview skills workshops, graduate school search assistance, and job search assistance.
Wellness Center
Registered Nurses see students for any concerns, illness, or injuries for no charge. We can assess and treat for common upper respiratory illness, sore throats and cough, gastrointestinal illness, urinary tract infections, dermatitis or rash, muscle strains or injuries. We have a large variety of over the counter medications to help with everyday illness. We stock a variety of vaccines and provide routine testing for Strep, Pharyngitis, Urinary Tract Infections, Mononucleosis, and pregnancy. We can draw blood work and cultures that are sent to a local lab for evaluation. A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is available by appointment to provide physical exams, well women exams, travel medication prescriptions, advanced medical care, and maintenance of certain prescriptions.
Counseling Center
Counseling programs and services are offered to help students live more effective, responsible, and satisfying lives. The Counseling Center offers individual and group counseling sessions for students as well as consultation with faculty, staff and parents. Counseling resources ranging from pamphlets and videos, community referrals, to on-line assessments are also available. The Counseling Center also has a relaxation room known as the Cooley Corner Chill room, featuring a massage chair, aroma therapy, and biofeedback programs.
