Men's Hoops Stings Plattsburgh  01/04/09

SCRANTON, Pa. - Shenandoah University snapped its four-game losing streak Saturday afternoon with a 63-39 victory over Plattsburgh (N.Y.) State in the consolation round of the University of Scranton Radisson Invitational.

The Hornets (4-8) won for the first time since an overtime win over Mary Washington on November 30 by holding the Cardinals (3-6) to 23 percent shooting on the day.

Ospreys Soar Over Men's Hoops  01/03/09

SCRANTON, Pa. - Richard Stockton College of New Jersey used a big first-half run Saturday afternoon to key a 74-57 men's basketball victory over Shenandoah University in the opening round of the Radisson Invitational hosted by the University of Scranton.

The Ospreys (11-1) ran their winning to eight games while sending Shenandoah (3-8) down to its fourth straight defeat with the win in the first matchup between the two schools since the 1989 NCAA Tournament.

Radford Dominates Men  12/27/08

RADFORD, Va. – Division I Radford University sent Shenandoah University down to its third straight defeat with a 104-66 victory Saturday night at Peters Hall.

Radford (4-8) snapped a four-game losing streak by downing the Hornets (3-7) for the eighth time in nine lifetime meetings.

Marlins Spear Men's Hoops  12/17/08

WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University completed its pre-Christmas men’s basketball schedule Wednesday night with a 69-47 non-league loss to Virginia Wesleyan.

VWC (6-5) never trailed against the Hornets (3-6). The Marlins scored the opening bucket of the game at the 18:23 mark and following a Quantrell Simmons three-pointer at 15:48, led the rest of the way.

Three Earn VaSID Honors  12/16/08

FERRUM/LEXINGTON, Va. - Shenandoah University had three student-athletes earn Virginia State Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State honors in selections announced Tuesday by the organization.

Senior Dionte Beatty and junior Mo Salih were named to the football squad while freshman Kat Terza earned honors for women's soccer.

Hargbol Earns USA South Honor  12/15/08

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Junior Alexis Hargbol has been named USA South Conference women's basketball Player of the Week in selections announced Monday by the conference office.

Hargbol, the Hornets starting center, led SU to victories over Peace and Meredith colleges with a pair of double-doubles.

Women Win Third Straight  12/14/08

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team will head into the Christmas break on a three-game winning streak thanks to a 72-53 USA South win over Meredith College Sunday afternoon.

Shenandoah (5-3, 2-0 USA South) earned its second conference victory in as many days with another strong shooting performance.
