Applied Behavior Modification

PSY 401D-101 (3 credit hours)

Description

This practicum placement involves providing behavior therapy to a boy with autism in the family's home for a minimum of two 3-hour sessions per week. Students will be providing treatment under the supervision of an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Specialist, who will continue to monitor treatment for the duration of the practicum placement.

Availability

  • 0-3 positions depending on site need
  • Offered in both Fall and Spring semesters

Special Prerequisites

  • Completion of Behavior Modification (PSY 330)

Expectations and Requirements

  • 120 hours completed at site
  • Initial training with ABA Specialist
  • Twice monthly meetings with Psychology faculty contact
  • Twice monthly meetings with ABA Specialist
  • 4- to 6-page reflection paper describing practicum experiences and how you were able to apply psychological principles to personal, social and organizational issues encountered during your placement
  • Completion of "Supervisor and Site Assessment" form
