The mission of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International is to support the learning, knowledge, and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide.
The Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Honor Society of Nursing and the Rho Pi Chapter, Shenandoah University’s nursing honor society, hosted the 11th Annual Nursing Research and Scholarship Day on April 24 at the university’s Brandt Student Center on main campus.
Beverly Malone, FAA, RN, PhD, CEO of the National League for Nursing, gave the keynote address,”Cultural Diversity in the Health Care Setting: Are We Meeting the Need?”
Hilda R. Heady, MSW, associate vice president for rural heath and executive director of the West Virginia University Health Sciences Center, spoke on the topic of “Appalachian Values: Diversity and Disease”at 12:45 p.m. in the Ferrari Room.
“This annual symposium is designed to empower nurses and to encourage scholarship, research and leadership,”said Dr. Kathryn Ganske, professor of nursing and director of the Division of Nursing. “We’re very glad to host such distinguished speakers, practitioners and educators.”

The event concluded with the induction of members and installation of officers led by Professor of Nursing Marian Newton, RN, PhD.
