What Can The Parents' Council Do?

The Parents' Council has two scheduled Saturday morning meetings: the Saturday of Family Weekend and once more during the spring semester. Committees meet as needed.

The Council has been involved in a number of projects over the years:

  • Summer Orientation: Parents staff an information table during the first day of orientation. Members inform freshman parents of the council and encourage them to join and as well as pass refreshments. It is a nice welcome for new families.
  • Parents' Council Awards: The council presents the award for "Special Friend Award." The recipients are selected by student committees and the awards are presented at either Honors Day or the fall commencement.
  • Apple Blossom Fundraiser: To raise money for a Parents' Scholarship Fund, council members staff a booth to sell snacks and/or park cars during the festival. A good time for everyone!
  • Dessert Extravaganza: Designed to bring to the students a little of that "down home feeling." Parents, grandparents and friends bring or send homemade goodies to be served at lunch in the dining hall during the spring semester.
